From geological petrology, Muyu stone belonging to dolomite with silt, having structure of fine-crystal is marine metamorphic rock which is formed through biochemical action. Muyu stone has high iron content most of which is Fe2O3. And it also contains a little phosphate, kaolin and almost more than 20 elements such as Mg、Na、Zn、Ca etc, most of which are necessary needed by body. Iron content is the important evidence to identify its truth and false of the Muyu stone. If the iron content is range 41% to 45%, the Muyu stone is dense limonite but if the iron content is below 5%, it would be the fake. It contains high clay matter content.
The capability of Muyu stone tea sets is keeping the color, fragrance and taste, without leakage and aging. The more for usage the smoother it will be. Scientific institutions test particularly and validate the function of fresh anti-corrosion about the Muyu stone. The foundation of this conclusion is the special fine-crystal structure. It is a material with multiple stomata which has high porosity with tiny stomata and high density. The stomata have two types. One is aggregated in the inner and the other is a set of stomata belongs to the opening type and which is wrapping outside of the aggregate. The air permeability of Muyu stone relate to this special fine-crystal structure, which like earth but not real, like crystal but not real. The rigidity of Muyu stone is moderate which is suitable for carving and is benefit to decoration of craftwork. Muyu stone tea set will keep the original fragrance and taste even without usage for long time. And also if the tea set making tea for long time can keep the tea fragrance even if you only pull hot water in it. All of this relate to the high porosity.
Instructions for the proper use of the Mu Yu stone(muyu jade)utensil:
1) Before using it for the first time, steep it with tea at 80 degrees for 10-20 minutes.
Then, discard the tea and rinse the utensil with clear water.
2) Afterwards, prior to each use of the utensil, heat it with water below 80 degrees.
3) Do not use any acidic (pH<7) liquid in the utensil.
4) The utensil is fragile. Be careful not to drop it.
