Physical chemistry: Spinosad is a macrocyclic lactone insecticide, derived from the actinomycete Saccharopolyspora spinosa. Biological activity: Insecticide. Melting point (℃): Spinosyn A: 84.0 ~ 99.5, Spinosyn D: 161.5 ~ 170. Vapor pressure (20 ℃): 1.3×10-10Pa. Solubility: Water 235mg / L (pH = 7), can be miscible with alcohols, aliphatic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons, esters, ethers and ketones in any ratio. Stability: Relative stable to metals and metal ions in the 28d. In the environment degradation through a variety of ways, mainly photodegradation and microbial degradation and eventually into carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen and other natural ingredients. Easy to decompose in light and water, water half-life of 1 day; in the soil half-life of 9-10 days.
Toxicology: Spinosad tech. Oral Acute oral LD50 for male rats 3783, female rats >5000 mg/kg, mice >5000 mg/kg. Skin Acute percutaneous LD50 for rabbits >5000 mg/kg. Non-irritating to skin; slight irritation to eyes but disappeared within two days. Spinosad are degradable in the environment, no enrichment and no pollution to the environment.
Application: Spinosad acts by altering the function of nicotinic- and GABA-gated ion channels of insect nervous systems but it does not interact with known binding sites for other nicotinic- or GABA-agonistic insecticides. Active by contact and ingestion; causes paralysis, paralysis quickly and finally death. Spinosad is low toxicity, high efficiency, low-residue of bio-pesticides. Its insecticidal speed is comparable with chemical pesticides. Non-cross-resistance to the commonly used insecticides currently and safty to beneficial insects and mammals. Spinosad is most suitable for applying in pollution-free vegetables, fruits.
