What is Grade 316L stainless steel pipe?
316L Stainless Steel Tube is the second-most common SS next to 304 Stainless Steel Pipe. 316L Tubing generally contains 16% chromium and 10% nickel, with the addition of molybdenum easily ranging from 2-3%. Molybdenum extend corrosion resistance, particularly against chlorides and other industrial solvents. While there may be a difference between the chemical compositions of 304 and ASTM A312 TP316 Pipe, their mechanical properties are common. 316L Rectangular Pipe is normally used in many industrial applications involving processing chemicals, as well as high-saline environments such as coastal regions and outdoor areas where de-icing salts are similar. Due to its non-reactive qualities, SS 316 Pipe is also used in the manufacture of medical surgical instruments.
