CT is one of the key measurement components in the meter. The meter accuracy is decided by the CT accuracy. And we have four types of figure:

Ring type is the basic one for the current transformer. It doesn't contain primary busbar, so the customer can match freely as they like. CT can measure precisely from 6A ~200A.

Busbar type is made to suit for different types of terminal block in the meter. The busbar will be crossed to the CT core and fixed by high temperature compound filling material (up to 120℃), so that the production will be very easy. The cost and labor force for customers will be saved a lot.
There are two types of mounting for this type:
(1)mounted with screws on the terminal directly,
(2)inserted into the cage terminal holes and then mounted with screws. -
As the electric meter is smarter, the components will be smarter and smarter. Some customers design the PCB with CT mounted, which will save some space for the meter. Therefore PCB-mounted type is very popular in the market. More and more meter manufacturers choose this type and match the busbar on their own.

This type of CT is mounted on the bottom case, and the secondary wire is connected to the PCB. This type of CT can be easily assembled with latching relay, so it's used extensively in the smart meter. Customers don't need to match the busbar separately.
