I. Purpose and scope
The instrument is designed and made as per T0722-1993 “Test Methods for Bitumen Content of Bituminous Mixture by the Centrifuge Separation Method” in the Industry Standard of People’s Republic of China JTJ052-2000 Specification and Test Methods for Bitumen and Bituminous Mixture for Highway Engineering. It is suitable to determine bitumen content (bitumen-mineral aggregate ratio) in the bituminous mixture, which is made of viscous petroleum bitumen, by the centrifuge separation method.
The instrument is suitable to determine the bitumen quantity used during hot mixed bituminous mixture road surface construction, so that to evaluate the quality of products of bituminous mixture manufacturer’s. It is also suitable to determine bitumen quantity used in the bituminous mixture during old road investigation. The bitumen can be recovered from the bitumen solution extracted by the instrument, so that to evaluate the aging of bitumen.
The instrument can separate bitumen from the bituminous mixture using the centrifugal force produced by high speed rotation. Its efficiency is 10 times more than that of traditional distillation method. It is suitable for construction supervisors, bituminous mixture manufacturers and construction companies to make rapid field inspection. It has been widely used to determine bituminous mixture design ratio, bitumen content, and bitumen-mineral aggregate ratio in the highway transportation department, relative college and universities, and scientific research institutes.
