Indications and Uses:
1) Ginkgo biloba is used for cerebral insufficiency and Alzheimer's disease.It also is used for peripheral vascular insufficiency.
2) Ginkgo is marketed in dietary supplement form with claims it can enhance cognitive function in people without known cognitive problems, but such claims are unfounded because it has no effect on memory or attention in healthy people.
3) Ginkgo has been studied as a possible treatment for dementia and Alzheimer's disease, with mixed results. Some reviews have concluded there is no good evidence supporting the use of Ginkgo in dementia, whereas others have conluded that the EGB761 extract may help patients with dementia.
